“Ben F. Small’s THE OLIVE HORSESHOE is an intriguing book. Estranged family, murder and conspiracies with some truly memorable characters. And while the scope feels big, it is not blown out of proportion and it is really an enjoyable book. Small does nice work with dialogue and I really enjoyed his protagonist Denton Wright.”

“They say that the devil is in the details, and Mr. Small takes devilish delight in tempting us with all the right bits in "The Olive Horseshoe". Since his first novel two years ago - "Alibi On Ice" - he has refilled his mystery writer's trick bag with lots of new tools, but more important has buffed his literary muscle to Ironman conditions. Everything fits, and when you snap the last piece of his deadly puzzle into place, you will exclaim "Yes!". The author's characters breathe with life, from the starring quartet to the supporting cast, and he paints the locales like a natve.

The pull of the story line is so strong that I marathon read for two days straight. Be prepared, for once I started down the first page I could not let go. As you travel with Denton Wright into this Byzantine maze, wondering why his father was murdered, like Denton you won't simply want to know, you have to know. I won't finish with the usual superlatives; instead let me state that with "The Olive Horseshoe" Mr. Small has crafted a novel written exactly the way that I like to read.”
